Insufficient Sleep can be Hazardous to Your Health
How much sleep do we need? Most people think as we age we can go by with less and less sleep per night. Or wait for the weekend to "catch up" on the sleep we deprived ourselves with during the week. It has even become part of our social norms to claim optimal productivity on 4 or less hours of sleep per night.
Did you know that we are the only species that deliberately deprives ourselves of sleep? While we reach for stimulants during the day to help keep us awake and seek stimulants at night to help us go to bed we are not allowing our bodies to naturally recover during the night.
